1. Tips for
Success
Advertisers have
different goals for their cards. Some use cards simply
as a means of building awareness, others use them to
capture names and data, others see them as a tool to
determine overall interest, and still others look to
them for direct sales. Whatever your goal(s), make sure
the card is designed to meet that objective.

2. Use
color and photos for impact
Four-color is the
way to go, whenever possible. Don't forget that the
reason you're in business - and sending out cards - is
to sell a product or service. If your focus is on a
product, be sure to show it on the card.

3. Realize the
return potential
Card packs are
unique among advertising vehicles. Each returned card
gives you a large amount of customer information. You
can tell a lot about a customer and the company when you
receive a card in the mail. If you generate a lead for a
potential customer you can find out a lot about them and
what service they may be interested in and their
"pre-qualifications for buying" from a return postcard
in the mail. You can't get that same information in
other media.

4. Make it easy to
respond
Your card should contain enough information for
the buyer to easily make decisions about whether to
respond to the offer. You should also offer alternative
methods for the buyer to respond. Since different people
like to respond in different ways, allow them the option
of mailing in a card, calling an 800 number, faxing a
response or contacting an Internet address.

5. Be Patient
Cards are not a one-shot
effort. It often takes time to refine your cards, and
one time in a pack may not be enough. To be successful,
a card must:

Sell
the correct
product |
|
- |
Make
the right offer
|
|
- |
Have
an attractive
design |
|
- |
Be
complete, with clear
